Letter from President, Bob Calala |
Volume 4, Issue 2 |
|
Greetings,
Welcome to another issue of your newsletter. That’s right Yours. We want to have articles and information that are of interest to you. So please do not hesitate to contact any of us and let us know what is important to you. This newsletter is an opportunity for you to share the things that are going on in your neck of the woods. Each one that gets this letter is involved in a different aspect of aquaculture. You are located in different parts of the state and are aware of local issues that may affect others. For example in my township we are rewriting the zoning and I was able to have the word Aquaculture added to their definition of agriculture. Not a big thing but it made the front page of the local paper. The idea is that the more people in Ohio know that aquaculture is being done in our state |
the easier it will be. If you are doing some type of aquaculture, have
you ever had your local paper do a story on your operation? We would
like to share those stories.
On the same note I get down to Columbus, on average, twice a month. I am either at the Division of Wildlife, Dept. of Ag, the state house, or O.S.U. building relationships with groups so as to further the cause of aquaculture in our state. Now I know we all don’t have time to do that, but, do you know who your township trustees, or your state reps are, and do they know that aquaculture is important to you? It only takes a phone call to start the ball rolling. And just so you know it works: By building relationships on a federal level we were able to help O.S.U. get $400,000 for aquaculture research |
