Letter from President, Bob Calala |
Volume 4, Issue 4 |
| Thanks to all of you who supported the O.A.A. by participating in our workshop on Sept. 13th. It was a great success. The weather was just perfect. I think we had about 80 people signed up. I know we set up to feed 100 for lunch and there were no leftovers. I’d like to personally thank our speakers Dave Gollon, (Gollon Bait & Fish Farm), Ron Kinnunen Ph.D (Michigan Sea Grant), Geoff Wallat and Laura Tiu (OSU South Centers). And also the staff down at Piketon (mostly Cindy) for putting together all the things that go into an event like this. And if you were not there you missed one of the best Perch dinners this side of the Mississippi, put on by our own Internationally known Chris Bennett. And last but not least your O.A.A. board members. |
In looking back over the years I have been associated with the O.A.A. it
seems each time we put on an event they just keep getting better and
better. I am really looking forward to our annual banquet on Sat. Dec. 6th
in Columbus. This years banquet is shaping up to be one of the best and
of course there’s the election of O.A.A. board members. I encourage
you to let your voice be heard by being present and exercising your
right to vote. A special thanks to Bill Lynch and Dan Kaiser for doing
most of the work involved in setting up this years banquet.
As I look ahead to the future of aquaculture in Ohio I see only opportunities. Over the course of this summer I’ve heard that producers were sold out of all they had. It didn’t matter whether it was Bass, Perch, Bluegill, or Shrimp. |
