Soil health and quality is evaluated in terms of indicators that measure specific physical, chemical, and biological properties. Although this separation is useful, it is important to note that many of these properties are interrelated. Some physical properties are shaped by biological activity, biological activity can be enhanced or limited by chemical and physical conditions, and chemical properties are altered by soil organisms. The best soil health/quality indicators are those integrate the combined effects of several properties or processes.
