The Wisconsin Scorecard primarily uses descriptive categories based on direct farmer experience and sensory perceptions. It is integrative and uses many crop and animal health categories as indicators of soil health. It is simple to use with three basic levels for each category- healthy, impaired, and unhealthy - that can be subdivided if desired on a numerical scoring scale. The Ohio Card is being developed using a process piloted by NRCS in Oregon & Maryland. This process uses participatory leadership by farmers in constructing a Card that is useful to other farmers.
