Team synergy is greater than the sum of the individual contributions. Self directed work teams enhance staff motivation and retention, develop the organization's credibility with stakeholders, provide a larger pool of skills from which to draw statewide, supplement but do not replace the role of specialists, increase networking among staff members, and increase organizational self-esteem.
OSU Extension has emphasized teamwork in planning, implementing and evaluating programs since the late 1980's. To support that effort, the following developmental resources for program team leaders are now available.
