    This Week:

  • Bird Damage and Fusarium Fruit Rot

Crow Damage on green pumpkin fruit.
Despite plenty of moisture for drinking, crows did extensive damage by pecking immature green as well as ripe fruit. We are not sure why they were attracted to these fruit since there were no pests present. In previous years, we have seen crows ripping off leaves and pulling young plants out of the field.

Early Symptoms of Fusarium fruit rot on pumpkins. Notice the pink-white growth on the belly where the fruit touches the ground.
