2008 4-H CAREER DAY IN NORTHWEST OHIO
Career education is becoming more and more important for our youth across America. It is crucial that youth be equipped with the needed skills to not just survive, but to thrive in the workforce. With this in mind, the 4-H Programs of Defiance, Fulton, Paulding, Henry, and Williams counties held a day long Career program for seventh grade 4-H students on October 15, 2008, at Four County Career Center. Participants had the opportunity to explore careers via a computer program, learn interviewing techniques, and get tips on creating a great first impression. In addition, Dr. Kevin Miller, Superintendent of Hicksville Exempted Village Schools was the guest speaker. The afternoon activity was called "Welcome to the Real World" where students participated in decision making and how the choices they made affected a budget.
This day was made possible thanks to the Erie Sauder
Career Education Grant through the Ohio 4-H Foundation. The O.S.U. Extension 4-H Educators from Fulton, Defiance, Henry, Paulding and Williams Counties organized the event.
