Description
I. Qualifications
- Must be at least
18 years old.
- Must be in good
physical condition.
- Must have
experience in a variety
of nature education, natural history, or outdoor education.
- Posses good
verbal/ non-verbal
communication skills.
- Should be
experienced in teaching
and working with young people for extended periods of time.
II. Responsibilities
- Directly
responsible to the Program
Director/Coordinator.
- Must meet with
the Program Director/
Coordinator prior to groups coming to camp to discuss group's needs.
- Take initiative,
share creative
ideas with the Program Director/Coordinator.
- Create and
maintain educational
displays.
- Be at the nature
center, 15 minutes
or more (as needed), before nature center activity instruction periods
to have equipment, supplies, and area ready for activities.
- Responsible for
supervising and
utilizing counselors during conservation programs.
- Conduct special
programs such as
bird walks, night hikes, etc. as requested by the camp directors
through
the Program Director.
- Maintain
equipment and supplies in proper working order, in an orderly manner.
- Suggest to
Program Director/Executive Director areas where conservation measures
are needed to maintain natural resources of camp including trails and
develop plans for activities by campers
which will put some of the needed conservation measures into effect.
III. All Staff and Directors
- Set
an example by conducting themselves in a proper manner; observe a habit
of cleanliness, respect and positive attitude.
